Last time I wrote the article online, but the connect suddenly cut out. I have to write it twice. besides, midterm exam is beginning, so I am late to put this work. OK! Let's started.
1. In your opinion or experience, why do some students chose to cheat? What are some of the different reasons students give? Do you know people who cheated in high school or college? (you can respond generally. I am not looking for names).
My opinion is that they haven't prepared already or they just don't want to study anymore, so the students decide to cheat in the big exam. But most of the reason is they haven't prepared enough and they just really don't want to fail in the classes. The second reason may they don't expect others to look down on them as a loser. If they were caught red hand, in Taiwan monitor commonly would not caught students who was cheating in the class and they would pretend to focus on other things, normally students gave excuses instead of truth. I merely think one excuse that they would give usually. The one is that "Not as much as you think, I just glanced at the paper once, ok?" They would say it in the right and self-confident way, seems like they were right. Seldom students would ask for evidence or witness. Wherever in the school or in the college, of course I have seen many students cheated. I was an informer, and I can surely tell you that I have cheated in classes is under five times in my life. Come on, I am not good at telling a lie. I know whom is usually cheating in many classes in the university and I think the classmates would often notice them, discuss them in their own privacy group. But in my opinion, people who really has capability seldom to cheat if it is not necessary.
1. In the US if you were caught plagiarizing assignments you would immediately be given a failing grade. You could also be immediately expelled from the university for "academic dishonesty". Since the reason you were expelled would be written on your transcripts, every other university you applied to would know you once got caught cheating. What types of punishment are generally given for cheating on exams or class work in Taiwan? Do you think these punishments are a sufficient deterrent to cheating? What do you think the punishment should be?
Oh! The punishment of U.S. is very nice, and I think it can be listed in the punishment items of Taiwan. But I heard Ruth have ever said that American students normally cheat in classes, not stick by the rule as our thought. The punishment by rule In Taiwan, if students cheat on exams, they will be recorded with two major demerit. By the way, if they get three major demerit, they must be draw out. However, teachers don't sentence them like that, they will ask them to clean bathroom, floors, or their own workroom on Saturday or Sunday. Well, how about the punishment of cheating class work? I don't know. I think few teachers caught the students whom cheated on class work, teachers did not often care about it. In short, this world are weird nowadays. Even in America, these discipline are not a sufficient deterrent to cheating. Maybe we could make the earth a little bit change from media itself or ourselves, although the idea of changing media seems impossible. Suppose I were the director of academic affairs, I will record it on diploma and leave a spare documentary on computer in the school. If some famous bosses knew it, they would make a right decision.
3. You will have to think creatively for your answer here: Even with the threat of severe punishment, the readings above indicate that cheating is still a problem. One reason is because students naturally assume they will get away with it and won't get caught. Therefore, severe consequences probably won't be enough, by themselves, to stop students from cheating (if you don't think you will get caught, it's easy to ignore the possible consequences). What can be done? What real solutions should be tried? Are teachers and students in perpetual race to see who can get trickier? What other solutions can be tried to stop cheating? Be specific with your suggestions.
(If this question is hard, here are some possible solutions to think about: reward students who catch their classmates with extra credit; expel students from school, forever, for the first time; hire detectives or student helpers to look for cheaters; do nothing at all; other creative solutions)
The cheating problem disturbed monitor for a long time; still, it's being thousand years' problem. It seems not possible to boil down. I think the real solution can be tried are first move to well-educated country or second to strict educate by their own parents when they were young. If the one who doesn't have the both environment, they just could depend on themselves or their friends. I should mention that environment is absolutely important which everyone knows it, but in many countries, even in developed countries, their parents or government don't care about it. Don't know why they prefer caring about how to make more money to educating their promising children. It's also weird that there always having students to cheat, even the test is open book in the class. Maybe they were not afraid of teachers or rules, or they don't think it twice before they leap. How to stop cheating? I have searched on websites, and list some suggestion to tell you. 1. Divide the exam paper into various versions for students, or random questions on the paper for them. 2. Put white paper on their desk insure that they don't write the answer on their desk(You have to take back afterward.) and ask them to take only one pen and one eraser for preventing they already write the answer on it. 3. give each one some different essay questions and let them open book. Furthermore, I think hire detectives to look for cheaters this idea is splendid.

What do you think should be the punishment for students who cheat in this class?
Answer: To minute his/her 10 scores at first.
It's possible that some students who have cheated in class may not have really thought about what they were doing and now regret it.
Answer: I think mere simple and honest Taiwanese will regret. Usually, if Taiwanese does cheating but doesn't be caught, they won't feel regretful. But I think they would feel guilty, indeed.
Should they be allowed a second chance to "fix" their mistakes? If so, what can they do to fix their earlier mistakes?
Answer: No, they should not be allowed. But if they still be caught, teacher should minute 10 scores again for the second time. They do it third time or more, you can fail them without thinking.

New conception: Life's stages is shaped by society.(Issue)
The stages of life, from birth to death, may seem control by biology. However, the way I think about life's stages is shaped by society. During the Middle Ages, for example, children dressed and were expected to act just like little adults. Adolescence became a distinct stage of life only fairly recently, when a separate teenage subculture began to appear. But in the Middle Ages, young people were "children" until about age 16. Then they went to work, married, and had their own children. Today, "young adulthood" has become a new stage of life, stretching from about age 20 to 30. As life expectancy become longer and people spend years in active retirement, older adulthood has also become a distinct life stage.

Assignment on 11/4
1. The penalty for plagiarism at Stanford University.
The penalty for student's first-time violation of plagiarism is a one-quarter suspension and 40 hours of community service. If the student is still caught but in final quarter of enrollment, the one-quarter suspension will be turned into two quarters.
2. The six possible punishments if you plagiarising at the University of Washington.
Correct answer: Disciplinary Warning, Reprimand, Restitution, Disciplinary Probation, Suspension, Dismissal.
3. Fired for plagiariam(three articles):
FIRST: a reporter for the Explorer, weekly paper in Arizona, was fired after he/she was found to have taken a story written for a journalism class and, with a few minor updates, passed it off as new work. Aside from the dishonesty, one of the problems was that the piece was outdated and therefore contained inaccurate information.
SECOND: The Ward Churchill academic misconduct investigation concerned charges of plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification against him who Churchill was a professor at the time. On May 16, 2006, the investigative committee released its findings that he had engaged in academic misconduct and had been "disrespectful of Indian oral traditions."
The University's Standing Committee on Research Misconduct decided that Churchill should be dismissed. Churchill has denied any wrongdoing, and has vowed to contest his firing in the court system.
THIRD: Papers submitted to Turnitin.com are checked against a database of more than one million manuscripts, which flags unoriginal phrases. Turnitin.com copies the student papers in their entirety to its database, which is a potential infringement of the students' copyrights. Such concerns lead officials at the University of California at Berkeley not to subscribe to Turnitin.com. This is ironic because John Barrie, the Turnitin.com founder, started developing the software upon which the service is based while a graduate student at Berkeley. Turnitin.com is growing rapidly; Mr. Barrie recently won a contract to serve more than 700 colleges and universities in Britain.
4. Opinion on plagiarism.
I have watched the website http://www.stanford.edu/dept/vpsa/judicialaffairs/students/plagiarism.cases.htm. In fact, some paragraphs I can't understand. Although each word is easy to explain, I just can't put them together. So, in my short opinion, there just a paragraph I want to talk about."A student turned in an essay that had substantial and extensive copying from a published source." and "He/She did not intend to plagiarize." This section, I think, which the student works so hard and denys that he/she doesn't copy, but the student really do it. If I were the student, I would have ordered the essay and written in my own words. It would look better

This day.
I wrote blog journal all day long. I feel little sleepy now. But I can not go to sleep now, wonder why? Due to the journal and test tomorrow. I will crawl toward my bed. I love this floor, it just can go down stairs quickly. I lived in second floor, how lucky I am, right? But I little bit want to move to the other room lately, due to my good friend. she lived in third level, I can accept it. However the dorm rule say that if the change's time is over, can't do it anymore. What a pity.
Is this world too over?
Over exaggerated, over makeup, over cruel, over endurant, over indifferent, over selfish, over ideal. Why we doing these everyday. Can't we simplify our life? Maybe media make the world go crazy, People go crazy, too. For self or for what reason, the earth is cold. It's true that plenty of people can't feel real love in their hearts. So please cut off your TV and computer, save the planet, save us, save offspring.... Make it warmer, love it more. Let's go, LET'S GO!

Recommend.
I love to listen Tank's album recently. He is Taiwanese. His songs are lively and the voice is very attractive. Recommend it for you. Today I attended an excellent oration. The speaker is Lu ta-tan. He really came to our school, surprised? It's a pity that who had not participated in this speech. Although he is a disable, he does not blame anything. He changed his life all by himself. Owing to he was poor in his childhood, and he worked extremely hard and has a smart brain. Even cut a sausage that he could think of cutting different shapes. He creates various products, and the products sale all the world. I think he deserved to be a boss or a chairman. More about him

The day I went HGSH school.
The school is located in Hsinchu. Our First-aid Club participated a fun competition of the school. We had fun time, and we won many prizes. The activity is for volunteer commendation which gathered all the senior highs and universities in Hsinchu this place. After commendation is over, all delegations started performances. The live scene was so exciting that we could not stop dancing. Everybody watched and swung. It felt good! Last program is an extremely fun competition. It has nine different games, and we got four prizes. Finally, we had got a runner-up cup. Joined this activity making me think of my life time in my senior high school. I miss the younger me, it's lively. I am merry today, and I will treaure it.

Touching movies.
I have ever watched "I am David", "Together","The notebook"(I cried every time when I watched),"Cape no.7"...etc. These movie as far as I am concerned, maybe I have not thought other touching movies yet. I think GUITAR has a fantastic magic, Owing to it can make people cry, laugh, happy, and sad....Many touching movies almost includes its melody. Simple and flexible. What areas of movie do I usually watch? The answer is Europe, America and the Middle East. It is time to go to bed, see you~
Sad about news from my father.
Last time my father phoned me. He said that he have resigned his job. When I heard the news, I was glad. But as soon as I heard he got another job, I was sad. I wished my father could retired, however, he did not. I knew he was devoted his life to make our family a better life. He is grand. My father really takes care of our family awfully well. Now I worried about his health, owing to the job is a midnight job. But most of all, I hope I will devote my life to make parents a nice life in the future.
Think of foreigners in CHU.
I often talk with foreigners in our university. Some of them speak Mandarin fluently, and they are not shy when they are chatting with our students. EJ corner is a wonderful foundation. It can make us meet different people and improve our speaking gradually. I make a few foreigner friends in the university, and I am really happy that I attend this great perfect school. The place offers many chances to touch any new face. Maybe just because I participate lots of activities, and it required progaganda ocassionally. My thought is not only progaganda can do it, but in any activity else can also achieve it. Who say that the private university can't compare with national university? You are wrong! It's about personal, isn't it?

The study of humanities(Part 2)
Humanities is an interesting study. It focusing on the human's esteem and worth. Sometimes we may ask God why we should learn it? I think is... First, it can make us realize how grand and deep it is in our mind. Second, let us think over the meaning and worth of our lives. Last, it can cultivate our characters and minds. What is real meaning of humanities? My answer is that MAKE THE WORLD PEACEFUL! Although it is impossible nowadays, but we can do it from ourselves. Besides, I think humanities, in the complicated world, is useful, because it also means capability in modern society. If you want succeed in your job, the most element is H-U-M-A-N. Promotion and salary relate to human. Humanities can make you more easier to get a job really.

Fire.(Issue)
Fire extended humans' geographical boundaries by allowing them to travel into regions that were previously too cold to explore. It also kept predators away, allowing early humans to sleep securely. Fire, in fact, has been a significant factor in human development and progress in many ways. Other obvious benefits of fire are its uses in cooking and in hunting. Probably even more important, however, is that learning to control fire allowed people to change the rhythm of their lives. Before fire, human daily cycle coincided with the rising and setting of the sun. With fire, though, human gained time to think and talk about the day's events and to prepare strategies for coping with tomorrow.

Women rights (Part 2).
I think because I do not touch the salary or maternity leave yet, I do not conscious the problem. After reading some articles, I realized the fact I will face in the future. Yeah, it's a big problem. I think women should be more independant. Why we are supposed to be weaker and not have self-confidence? Are you born to really weak? NO! So come on! We should change the history, and don't you notice the problem is better than ago? we should keep revoluting it. Let's look positive side, ok? Negative is nothing help in any thing.

Animal prediction.(Issue)
Creatures that are very sensitive to the changes in the air before a storm changes in the weather. Birds, for example, sense the pressure change and fly lower. And then, indicate that rain is coming. Similarly, houseflies detect this change and move indoors to avoid the pouring rain. Moreover, cats are known to clean themselves just before a storm. These actions can be our reference to predict whether the weather will be bad or not.

This weekend I plan to go home but I didn't do it.
This weekend I could not go home, and I am original supposed to join first-aid basic training class(self-owned word). Finally, I decided to go Taichung to visit some friends. Oh! My God! The result is totally different. I have just been there once. Last time I went the place because my old sister studied there. This time the reason is my boyfriend and I want to go farther county. I found out that Taichung is paradise. On account of the merchandise, and I really enjoy their department stores. Especially, the product that Taiwan have not any agency to import. Oh! You definitely can not miss it. They often have on sale, and it is cheaper than you buy from any website. The other main point I love Taichung is that the view is beautiful. I've been dadu3(dadu mountain), and have memory a lot. Oh! I really treasure this trip. Good night everyone~
Sorry that I did not do the homework last week.
I don't know what's going on last week, and I just let it pass through. Why? Don't know the reason. Maybe I need learn how to control my own time. Not only me, but all the students in university. This week I revive, I think it's time to get my work started. so, see yu soon baby.

Cultural gesture.(Issue)
In Bulgaria, one nods one's head for "no" and shakes it back and forth for "yes". If you make the ok sign in Brazil, with the index finger and thumb making a circle. It is not only not okay, it's very impolite. To show the bottom of one's feet to a Turk is a serious insult, implying that "you are lower than the ground I walk on." Throughout the Middle East, to offer the left hand in a handshake or to wave it at someone will offense him or her deeply. Frenchman wants to make a strong point, he waves his upraised index finger from side to side. In many Mediterranean cultures, men who are nonromantic friends walk hand in hand. And in America, a firm handshake and a direct look in the eye are expected when men meet one another. In many cultures, this would be considered very rude. Clearly, The meaning of body language may be different in another.

Little bit boring now. But I know, I should make it interesting. I am listening my favorite music songs, and singing loudly in my dorm. I revoked a piece of my blur memory. Since I was young in high school, I love to learn English. Owing to I had a excellent teacher who is named Lin Way. He studys English very extensively, and his teaching are flexible and fun. I always expect his class. Oh! It was a great time. I eager for singing now. Goodbye everyone~
My lazy day
I am lazy today. watching some blogs of my friends, and adding some comments on it. Recently I heard a news from my sister. She said she was baptized a christian, and I was real shocked. wow! Why did she decide to be christened? I think she must regard it for a long time. I respected to her. I have got two sisters, as well as they are both christian. I still don't know whether I want to be a christian or not. Although my sister took me to the church which nears my home, I just have not ever thought of it. I watched my sister's blog yesterday. she was glad that she did right choice. I was afraid of christian in the past, because they kept preaching to me. Often called me to attend their activity. Now I am not contact it, except my sisters. I feel not so pressured.

How to criticise sb. properly.(Issue)
Criticism is a valuable means of helping ourselves and other achieve personal growth. However, because it is often said carelessly or cruelly, criticism has a negative reputation. Here are some good ways for criticism properly. First, wait until the person asks for feedback on his or her performance or actions. Unasked-for criticism is not usually polite. Second, describe the person's behavior before you criticise it. Instead of just saying "It was awful." Tell the person exactly what you observed. And finally, try to balance your criticism with positive statements. Look for significant point in other person's performance that you can honestly praise.

How many languages I have learned in school?
I am in the dorm room alone, keep typing my journal. This semester, I learned another new language, French. I had read a book about living in Frace ago, and then I loved their living style and their characters. It is ridiculous, isn't it? Just watched one book could make me trust and love it, but it is true. Tell you a secret, I had learned little Japanese in my high school. My mom told me to resume it, but I like English better. I never regret chosing it. This week, I signed up an activity of EJ corner. One of the most stupidest thing is that I join a Japanese speaking activity. It was embarrassing, can you image that? Everyone said Japanese, but I could not. I will not do this crazy thing ever again~
Women rights(Homework)
Woman is equal to weaker sex is an old conception. I think women are more powerful and important in Taiwan nowadays. Lots of people like to talk about women than a man. We can see it in popular music lyrics that sing about woman, novels, and TV. Sexual common knowledge: man should protect woman instead violate us, lady first, we are born to dote, we ought to be independent...etc. Women are fortunate in Taiwan, really.

The study of humanities(Homework)
I think it's essential that people should study humanities, because it can teach us how to get along with people, enrich our mind. If humanities are not important, why our ancestors wrote abundant literate books, and effected offsprings so deeply. Why people has numerous feelings, and can't speak out. Why people want to find out how previous human lived. Learning humanities education is one of the most valuable educations indeed, because we learned how to get along well with any person in our whole life. You know that we can't be separated from people in the world. So, if you think humanities is not significant, you have not learned it yet.

Can't sleep at night
Insomnia is a very suffering thing. You know that feel. Since school opened, I could not sleep well at night frequently, but a awful thing is that I got up early. Very afraid once I slept, I would miss several classes. I hypnotized my myself or tried reading books, but it could not work. I did not want to see a doctor and take the medicine. I am supposed to relax once in a while. Maybe the best way to make me sleep is that listening English tapes, just kidding.

Hello, everyone~ don't worry about me.
Yesterday I burned the night oil, and feel little sleepy today. I attended composing classes by typing computer keyboard, and heard lots of clip, clip sound. The one who Sits next to me is Ruth. She is super able and adorable. She has own thinking. I want to tell her "You are special." She heard may just laugh. Now my eyes tell me that I want to fall asleep. I am struggling with my mind, so do not bother me, ok? Unless you can help me to win the fight. At last, I win this game, because the dumb bell rung. See you~
About your BEAUTY(Issue)
This summer, I had been studying some popular beauty websites and books.I found that many people use abundant toxic chemical on face.It sounds terrible, right? But it is truth. In Taiwan, all cosmetics are cater to our consumer. For example, you should notice the package writes does not mean it has the ingredients. And no matter what production, female and male can both use. Any suncream can cause cancer. All queations you want to ask, I recommend two websites that you will find out by yourself.

Jangmi Typhoon
I am tired recently, on account of Jangmi Typhoon and my sickness. If I had known the typhoon stronger than ever before, I would have come home immediately. These days I could not go around, I was lying on the bed all day long. No one care about me. I ate one meal per day. The dorm room black out often, and the hallway black out, too. I heard people yelled, glass broke , wind blew, and I had no idea, just lying on the bed. Today the situation has changed. My sickness are getting better, and the eletric power come back. But when I went out the room, I shocked. Everything is mess. Crash, fail all over, and flood, mud, trash you can see at lots of places. Oh!My God, hope tomorrow can be fine~

Do you know why second life
have over 15 million people to play?
Second life is a interesting issue. Because it is a 3D virtual videogame, like a extremely real world that we are amazed it. In the virtual world, we can go anywhere, meet any people if we want, and be any kind of person that we long for all the time. Besides, we can spend million dallors without thinking due to we can earn money easily. Even we fail, we can play it over and over again. Don't reckon the burden. So once people play the virtual videogame, they may sink into it. Not play 3 hours as you think but more. In short, it is most attrative game in the world.
